Notice to policyholders affected by the fires

With the news that Bushfire conditions are worsening in NSW & QLD our thoughts are with those who have already been affected by the fires and also with the emergency services working tirelessly to save lives and protect property.

Petplan urge all residents of these areas to listen to the advice of the Emergency Services and to take all steps to ensure they, their family & friends and pets remain safe. This includes following your bushfire survival plan and also checking on your neighbours, family & friends.

If you are leaving early with your pets remember to pack the following items:
  • Food & water
  • A bowl
  • A collar and lead
  • Bedding & towels
  • A carrier for cats or smaller pets
  • A favourite toy
  • Any medication they require
  • Your Vets contact details

For our Equine policyholders - Whether your horses are located at home or on an agistment property you must plan and prepare for their safety.
  • Remove all gear, including rugs, halters and fly veils to reduce the chance of burns and injuries.
  • Move horses from stables, small holding yards into a large open space
  • Move to a large eaten out paddock ideally with a dam or a sand ménage away from vegetation and buildings.
  • Do not let your horses out onto roads as they may be in more danger from traffic.

We encourage our customers that have been impacted by the fires to contact us so we can discuss their individual circumstances and how we can help.  We can be contacted on 1300 738 225.
